Fashion Study Tours to Barcelona

Traditionally, if you heard the term 'fashion capital', it would probably conjure up images of couture garments being paraded on the catwalks of New York, Paris, Milan and Tokyo. However, Barcelona has made a name for itself as a competitive fashion capital with its own unique, innovative sense of style. Thus, fashion-based study tours to this thriving city, where designers have been making headlines, are becoming extremely popular. There's much to see and learn on fashion study tours to Barcelona. Here are some key venues that every fashion student should be eager to visit while there.
Textile and Costume Museum
This wonderful museum has clothing and textiles dating back from the Arab conquest of Spain, to the Gothic, Renaissance and modern times. On study tours here, students can examine fashion from 17th century Baroque styles to 20th century designs. There are several collections on display, including a display of jewellery featuring close to 500 pieces produced in Spain. The Dressing the Body exhibition takes visitors on a historical walk through the history of garments - covering the periods 1550 through 2000. This interesting exposition explores how men and women have altered the appearance of their bodies through various kinds of garments, hairstyles, jewellery and body tattooing. Learn the five ways the appearance of the body has been altered throughout time, on this one of a kind tour.
MANGO
MANGO is Barcelona's most prestigious multinational company. Established over 20 years ago, MANGO can now be found in 89 countries, with over 1000 branches across the five continents. The company designs, manufactures and markets garments and accessories for women. This company should without doubt be on the agenda of fashion study tours in Barcelona, given that MANGO is inarguably one of its biggest high street successes. It is also Spain's second largest textile exporter. Tours at MANGO will take you behind the scenes into their warehouse, design facilities and logistics department.

Indie Fashion Says Embrace Those Curves

Many women are so afraid of making a mistake, that they either won't buy clothes at all, or they'll buy clothes that resemble tents, which is to say clothes that are too loose, and unflattering. Many women might have been told by advertisers that a larger sized woman has to wear dark colors, that she has to wear clothes that fall down to the floor, and that she has no right to even want to look flattering or appealing. The bottom line is that none of this is true, yes you heard it here its flat out garbage. The fact of the matter is that every woman has every right to want to look flattering and sexy regardless of her size.
A plus size woman is first and foremost a human being and second, she is a woman. She has so much to offer to the world, and no one has the right to make her feel that she has to look ugly, because she's carrying around a few extra pounds.. Many new Indie clothing designers are starting to add larger sizes to their collections and this is filtering down to more commercial stores, Igigi and NYDJ come to mind. This is being nudged along by forward thinking blogs like The Curvy Fashionista & Fashion Shows like Full Figured Fashion Week (FFFW). Not to mention the Italian Edition of Vogue featured full figured models on their cover for the FIRST time.
In general, shades that are flattering to curvy women are ones that give her the look of a waistline. It's even better if she naturally has a waistline, because there are many full figured women that naturally have an hourglass figure. It's good for a woman if she's wearing a dress to wear shades that don't hug her curves in the hips. While she doesn't want to wear something that resembles a tent, it's best for the item to be a little bit forgiving in the hips and in her backside.
No one regardless of size looks good with clothes that fit too tight. The point is for a woman to find shape flattering clothes, and to get someone to help her to analyze what her body type is. Once she figure out what her body type is, she can then find clothes that are cut to highlight positive parts of her curves, while hiding any perceived flaws. Given a selection and a confident state of mind we can all look beautiful because don't forget "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!"

Campus Fashion

When you go off to school for the first time many things change in your life. The people you hang out with, the place you live, your class schedule, your activities, and even your wardrobe. Yep, even your sense of style changes. How can this be? Well the late nights from the bars and studying do not leave you with lots of time to get up in time to class, and sitting a three hour class in your best attire is not always comfortable. Usually once you are in college you can even tell the type of organization a person belongs to just by their clothes. This article will look at some of the fashion that you can expect to see on your first day.
Probably the most obvious fashion statement that is prevalent on a campus is university attire. When all else fails, throw on a university t-shirt and you will fit right in. There is never a wrong time of year to wear this gear. However, be mindful of your sporting events. If you are at a football game, then you may not want to be wearing a basketball shirt. There is a reason that there are so many university shops surrounding your campus, it's because students love their university gear.
Another group of students that are usually easy to spot are the Greeks. The fashion varies depending on the region of the country that you are in. Since I am in the south I will touch on their fashion. Polo is a household name for any Greek member; in fact they flock to the stores so that they can but the latest items. Another staple are Sperry shoes. These shoes are brown for the most part and look like men's loafers. Women and Men both sport this trend often referring to them as boat shoes. Greeks still have their lazy days also and this is where athletic shorts and t shirts come in to play. Usually the shirt depicts their social events for the year. If is starts to get cold, the north face jacket comes out and these students will be representing all the fleece colors possible
